Does the problem persist if you run 'wine notepad.exe' from inside the Wine build tree? (There is no need to uninstall existing Wine binaries, but just in case you might try Copy sent to Debian Wine Party

Like Austin I have the strong feeling that you are working with a broken wineprefix. Not cool at all. To convince me I'm wrong please post the output of: echo $WINEARCH echo $WINEPREFIX ls ~/.wine ~/.wine64 All these should give no result. Please remember to include a Subject field in your messages in future. (Tue, 28 Jul 2015 19:24:04 GMT) Full text and rfc822 format available.

Following the typical steps outlined in comment #4, I get this in my console output: wine: created the configuration directory '/Users/charrington/.wine' err:module:DelayLoadFailureHook failed to delay load setupapi.dll.InstallHinfSectionW wine: Call from 0x7b8320b7 Time you enjoy wasting isn't wasted time.
