You may be able to find the point at which the errors started to occur by using git bisect between those two kernels. I haven't looked through your 2.6.32 usbmon trace in any detail, but I can tell you what to look for. Note You need to log in before you can comment on or make changes to this bug. The errors start to occur just after a 50-millisecond gap during which there are no I/O events.
regarding to the old pwcx phillips driver the quickcam 4000 takes about 15%-25% of CPU power for 640x480 pix. See the start of the tech discussion here: http://www.spinics.net/lists/linux-usb/msg69998.html But i don't know are they included in the mainstream kernel or not.
